LinkFixer Advanced version 7.0.1.580 and up now support Cure across multiple machines or instances. This feature is useful when running Cure on a larger than usual dataset, containing files with links across the entire dataset. While Cure can be run across multiple machines prior to version 7.0.1.580, it won't have the ability to fix links in data, across the multiple Cure instances.

Running Cure across multiple machines requires the following:

  1. A larger than usual Inoculated dataset, containing files with links across the entire dataset. For SharePoint Online, Box, or OpenText, this is typically anything above 250GB, and above 500GB for a file share migration.
  2. Multiple instances of LinkFixer Advanced
  3. A list of Source Folders to exclude from Cure
  4. A SQL database where all instances of LinkFixer Advanced, running multi-machine Cure, are connected

How to run a Cure across multiple instances:

  1. Identify a larger than usual Inoculated dataset to Cure
  2. Set-up 2 or more instances of LinkFixer Advanced for multi-machine Cure
    1. Ensure 2 or more instances are connected to the same SQL database
    2. Ensure all instances have the same Source Folders excluded
    3. Enable "Pause after scanning files" under {☰} Main Menu | Settings | Cure | Scanning
  3. Split the Cure dataset selection, somewhat evenly by data size, across the 2 or more instances of LinkFixer Advanced, under the Select Folders tab of Cure.
  4. Make sure to have the same set of filters under the Select Files and Select Links tabs of Cure, across the multiple instances
  5. Run Cure
  6. As Cure has two phases -- a Scan and Cure phase, the Scan phase of Cure pauses to allow for all instances to finish Scanning, populating the SQL database with all the file and link data needed to run a successful multi-machine Cure. Allow all instances to finish the Scan phase of Cure and stay at 50% on the progress bar.
  7. Once all instances of Cure have completed Phase 1 Scan or are all at 50% progress, hit the {Play} button above the progress bar for the actual Cure phase to start.
  8. As always, review the PDF and CSV reports to ensure all the links expected to be fixed, have been fixed with Cure.
