Information security is as important to us as successful text replacements. You should never have to choose between secure and effective. This article contains the answers to our most common security questions.

.

My security question is not covered here. What can I do?

We are dedicated to keeping your information safe and to keeping you informed about our procedures for doing so.

If you have any questions whatsoever, please contact LinkTek Support at 727-442-1822 or Support@LinkTek.com. We will give you a clear, prompt response. And your question (without any sensitive or identifying information) may make it into a future version of this article to help other users.

.

Does Enterprise File Changer expose the content of my files to third parties?

No. Absolutely not. Million File Editor interacts with files in two places:

  • The location they are already stored.
  • Temporary folders on the computers you run Million File Editor from.

LinkTek has no access to your files unless you send them to us for analysis.

.

Does the Enterprise File Changer database contain copies of my files?

No. Absolutely not. The database does not contain copies of your files and the database is completely under your control at all times. This database runs on your computers, not on computers controlled by LinkTek.

.

Can LinkTek read our Enterprise File Changer database?

No. LinkTek has no access to your database. It is stored on your own database server (if using SQL Server) or on the computer you run Million File Editor on (if using SQLite for a trial/evaluation).

.

Where does Enterprise File Changer store our username and password for connecting to SQL Server? Is the password encrypted?

Both the username and password field values for your SQL Server connection are stored in the Million File Editor settings file (“C:\Users\Public\Desktop\Million File Editor\Settings\Million File Editor User Settings.xml”).

The username field value is stored as plain text.

The password field value is encrypted using AES 256-bit encryption.

.

Where does Million File Editor store SharePoint and Office 365 authentication credentials? Are these passwords encrypted?

Both username/password authentication and Office 365 authentication credentials are stored in the Million File Editor settings file (“C:\Users\Public\Desktop\Million File Editor\Settings\Million File Editor User Settings.xml”).

The username field value for both authentication methods is stored as plain text.

The password field value for username/password authentication is encrypted using AES 256-bit encryption.

The password field value for Office 365 authentication is never known by Million File Editor and, therefore, can never be stored by us in the clear. The Office 365 authentication option creates a local cache of access tokens which are stored in an encrypted file (using Triple-DES) in the folder “C:\ProgramData\LinkTek\Million File Editor\”.
