Multiple instances of LinkFixer Advanced cannot be run on the same machine at the same time.

However, LinkFixer Advanced does have the ability to process multiple files at the same time if your computer has multiple processors (cores). In that case, LinkFixer Advanced can process files and links using multiple “agent” processes (processing threads). LinkFixer Advanced can run multiple agent processes simultaneously during particular tasks, such as Scan or Cure.

Running Multiple Agents

LinkFixer Advanced can process files and links up to three times faster by using multiple agents. By default, LinkFixer Advanced is set to "Moderate," striking a balance on how the product utilizes the machine's performance without eating away all of the machine's resources. "Cooperative" is on the minimal side and "Aggressive" will utilize all available CPU and memory resources.

Performance setting is available as a hidden setting. Please reach out to LinkTek Support for more information, by submitting a Support requestor emailing Support@LinkTek.com.

Running Multiple Instances

In addition to running multiple agents (threads) of LinkFixer Advanced on a single machine, it is also possible to install multiple instances of LinkFixer Advanced on multiple machines at the same time. Doing so will further increase the number of files and links that LinkFixer Advanced can process in any given period of time.

When you use multiple agents and multiple instances of LinkFixer Advanced during processing, the following rules apply:

  • Use a Microsoft SQL Server database instead of the SQLite database that comes with LinkFixer Advanced. All agents and instances of LinkFixer Advanced must point to the same SQL Server database.
  • LinkFixer Advanced will use only a single agent (per instance) during the Inoculate process.
  • The following file types are currently always processed using a single agent (per instance): InDesign, MicroStation and PageMaker.

By running multiple agents and multiple instances at the same time you can dramatically decrease the amount of time required to complete your project.
